The echocardiogram is a diagnostic test that provides a moving image of the heart, providing information about the shape, size, function, strength, movement and thickness of its walls as well as the functioning of its valves. It can also give us information about the pulmonary circulation and its pressures, the initial portion of the aorta and to see if there is fluid around the heart (pericardial effusion).
The stress test, or ergometry, is a technique used to diagnose coronary diseases. It involves viewing an electrocardiogram in real time and in motion, while the patient exercises in different phases on a treadmill. In this way we can know the response of the heart during the effort.
Both tests are performed in the clinic by a cardiologist, who will evaluate the results and issue the corresponding report. With these tests we can assess:
- Diagnosis and prognosis of ischemic heart disease (myocardial infarction, angina, etc.)
- Physical capacity in other diseases: valvular, heart failure.
- Need for pacemakers in patients with symptoms of fatigue when walking and slow heart rate.
- Arrhythmias induced by exercise.
- Evaluation prior to starting sports.
Includes: examination, clinical history, echocardiography, stress test, cardiological assessment and report. It can be done on a treadmill or a bicycle. And we can also assess moving to the place where the training is done (separate assessment). Recommendations before coming:
- Come with comfortable/sports clothing and shoes.
- Avoid eating, drinking coffee, alcohol or tobacco 3 hours before.
- Do not do intense exercise 12 hours before.
- Check beforehand if you are taking any medication.
The price for this diagnostic test is €150
